Shavette: A hybrid razor for home use7 BARBER / PLZEŇ

Shavette combines the elegance of traditional shaving with the practicality of interchangeable razors. This hybrid razor offers a classic shaving experience without the need for sharpening and maintenance of a real razor. It is an ideal choice for men who want to take their shaving to a higher level.

What is a shavette

Shavette looks like a classic straight razor, but instead of a fixed blade, it uses interchangeable blades. There are two main types: one uses standard double-sided razors folded in half, the other special long razors. The advantage is always a sharp blade without the need for honing and honing.

Shavette vs straight razor

Advantages of shavette: Always a perfectly sharp razor, minimal maintenance, lower purchase price, more hygienic (new razor = no bacteria). Cons: Lacks the weight and balance of a straight razor, razors can be more aggressive, higher operating costs (razors).

For beginners in traditional shaving, shavette is a better choice – you learn the technique without investing in an expensive razor and tools sharpening.

How to use shavette

Preparation is the same as for classic shaving: warm shower or hot towel, quality shaving soap foamed with a brush. Hold the shavette at an angle approximately 30 degrees to the skin. Use short, controlled strokes in the direction of hair growth.

Important: Shavette is sharper than a safety razor, but less forgiving of mistakes. Do not push – let the weight of the tool do the work. Always make the first passes in the direction of growth, against the direction until you gain experience.

Choosing the right shavette

For beginners, we recommend models with plastic or wooden handle – are lighter and forgiving of mistakes. Metal shavettes are heavier and more accurate, but require more experience. Brands such as Parker, Dovo or Feather offer quality models in various price categories.

Maintenance and safety

After every shave, change the razor or at least rinse and dry it. Change the razor after 2-3 uses. Be careful when handling – the blade is extremely sharp. Store Shavette closed and out of the reach of children.
