Shaving with soap is a traditional technique that is returning to popularity due to its effectiveness and economy. This method provides a smooth shave with minimal skin irritation.

Why choose shaving with soap

Shaving soap offers several advantages over canned foams and gels:

  • Better glide – quality soap creates a thick, slippery lather
  • Hydration – natural ingredients nourish the skin
  • Economy – one bar of soap lasts for months
  • Ecology – less waste, no cans
  • Ritual – preparing the foam is a meditative experience

What you will need

For shaving with soap you need:

  • Quality shaving soap (preferably with glycerine or lanolin)
  • Shaving brush (badger or synthetic)
  • Shaving bowl or mug
  • Quality shaver or razor

Preparation of lather step by step

Step 1: Soak the brush in warm water for 2-3 minutes to soften the bristles.

Step 2: Slightly shake off excess water - the brush should be damp, not wet.

Step 3: Put the soap onto the brush in a circular motion. Work for 30-60 seconds until you get a thick lather.

Step 4: Put the lather on your face and apply to the shaving area in a circular motion.

Shaving technique

Before shaving, wash your face with warm water or place a warm towel on it - this will open the pores and soften the beard. Shave in the direction of hair growth for the first pass. For a smoother result, you can make a second pass perpendicular to the direction of growth.

After shaving, rinse your face with cold water to close the pores and apply an aftershave balm.

Tool care

Wash the brush thoroughly after use and let it air dry with the bristles down. Store the soap in a dry place. Regular care will extend the life of your tools for years.
